A BigDecks project starts with real wood and a clear sense of how you want to live outside. Our namesake OG 4×12 surface boards set the scale: substantial boards, long lines, and exposed steel nail heads. The arrangement is available in Douglas fir or Western red cedar.

Start with the original BigDecks
The OG 4×12 is our flagship surface board arrangement. The broad boards and their visible ends give it a distinct presence. Douglas fir and Western red cedar offer different tones and grain, while keeping the same generous scale.
The 4×12 name describes the surface boards. Foundations, framing, connections, and other structural details are selected for the actual project. A surface profile does not replace that planning.

Plan for how you will use the space
Before choosing a footprint, think about a normal day outside. Where will you sit? How will you get from the door to the garden? Where do the grill, dining table, and chairs belong?
- Measure the area you are considering and note doors, existing steps, and changes in level.
- Look at the space during the times of day you expect to use it.
- Include room to walk around furniture and move between the house and yard.
- Bring photographs and a list of the features you want to discuss.
These details make the early conversation more useful and help us define the scope before construction.
Bring the yard into the design
A deck can be part of a larger outdoor plan. BigDecks offers landscape & stonework, including selective West Texas planting, limestone pavers, blocks and steps, pathways, and steel edging. We develop those elements through Design Assist and build them as part of the project.
Outdoor bathing, shade structures, and fencing can also be considered together with the deck. Planning the connections between these elements helps the whole yard feel considered.

Standard Decks is our entry option for a straightforward real-wood deck. It uses pressure-treated pine for both structure and surface, with ring-shank nail construction. The base deck comes unfinished. A finish can be purchased separately, à la carte.
