Follow a guest through the space
Trace the route from the house to the table, a seat, and the yard. Then imagine carrying a tray through the same area. Look for places where movement would interrupt a conversation or compete with someone opening a door.

Compare the appearance of light on the proposed materials before selecting fixtures. Ask who will evaluate and carry out any electrical work, where controls should be accessible, and what is included in the scope. Include those responsibilities and selections in the project plan.
Choose the surface for the whole setting
